What to Expect at a Notary Appointment

Updated: Mar 20, 2023

Upon my arrival at a Notary appointment, my typical procedure includes:

  1. Confirm my identity as a Notary by providing my business card or showing my badge. After that, I inquire about where the notarization will take place and ask the signer for their ID. This is an important component of the notarization process to prevent fraud.

  2. Review the documents and prepare an entry in my Notary journal. Then I instruct the client to proceed to sign the documents. After everyone has signed, I complete the notarial section and double-check for any errors before returning the form to the client for review.

  3. Payment for notary services is discussed during the initial call. This allows clients to understand the fees associated with the notarial services, such as travel fees to ensure we are on the same page. I accept various forms of payment such as cash, cash app, Zelle, or credit card.

Following these steps typically allows for a smooth signing process that takes approximately 5-10 minutes depending on the number of documents and signatures needed. If you have any questions or comments about this process, feel free to leave a comment or give me a call.
